SOUNDSCAPE SOLAR STAGE

Our Mission

We have worked for many years now at a variety of events, large and small, featuring rock, folk, reggae, ska, prog, psychedelic, electronica, or completely diverse and eclectic, some commercial and some alternative, some ecological fairs, some run by local authorities

But throughout, we have dedicated ourselves to supporting the musical world by providing the best possible performing space for live music of all types, at every level from internationally touring professional entertainers to amateur beginners. We have supported events which offer an inspiring variety of creative innovative music, as well as poetry and theatre, and given it uniquely receptive open-minded audiences.

Our work providing open air music venues becomes ever more essential in times of austerity with cuts across the board in arts funding: and with bricks-and-mortar venues closing down everywhere. According to the Mayor of London, the city has lost 42% of its live music venues over a 5 year period.

Most small pub gigs want only “Cover” bands playing old favourites, and medium-to-large concerts with “Tribute” acts offer only a replication of a previous show. So where will new generations develop their own creative styles and hone their skills, rise to prominence, and be able to work professionally? How will they grow to tour the world eventually, to work in their own right or to act as sidemen and session players for top international acts?

Soundscape by contrast aims to promote original material and nurture new and innovative songs and performances.

This country has a worldwide reputation for our music, and this is an industry currently worth £15 billion anually to the UK Economy. We are killing the goose which lays the golden eggs — and makes the gold records!

Our music is a main part of people's wellbeing and happiness, an expression of our culture and diversity.
